i was sleeping in the city
shadows curled and curved
around my spine
in thin black lines
spider silk fine

i traced them back
through rivers
made of space and time
found they were mine
oh they're all mine

of the borderline
drank black sunshine
like communion wine
i transformed from a human
into gold green vines
last thing i knew
to be human's fine

so i went walking through the city
swearing spitting through a neon mind
and i despised human life
til my liquid soul stretched and bulged
through a skull bone eye
it wept and sighed
into a dead black sky

into buds that burst
to thick green vines
they wrapped entwined
around a taproot spine

i knew if i stayed changed too long
my soul would die
if i did not try
to touch this human life.
